September 27, 2003 was a perfect Colorado day and the Celebration was well underway at 3 PM with horseback, shooting, old west photos, wagon rides, horseshoes and more. At 5pm, about 200 folks gathered on the lawn for some serious and not-so serious tributes to and memories of Andy. The ceremony ended with “Country Roads”, a gun salute, and releasing of birds. The party continued with food, music, dancing and storytelling well into a brilliant starlit night. Kristen, her friends, and the Lazy J family had done a superb job of planning and presenting and everyone knew their cowboy was smiling down from Andy’s Point - the highest point on the ranch. Here are a few selected comments overheard during the day; This is a great place for weddings and funerals; of course I was planning on a wedding… The world has lost a great cowboy, and I have lost a great friend…. We shared our dreams…. He was our captain… He was a freakin’ Martha Stewart… He tried to help me be a better person…. He made their job so easy…. And mine too… Why did Uncle Andy die? |

Group at Andy's Point Kristen, her family and all the Woods' appreciate greatly the love and support from so many caring friends. We know that some of us are, and all of us will face grief in our lives. A young mother we know has recently written a short practical guide "What to do when someone dies" following her tragic loss. Let us know and we will be happy to mail you a copy. Happy Trails and God bless you all. |
